JDF1 2010 Update. Down to 13 teams or less ???

JDF1 Drivers' qually times

Many have their opinion on who is the best…

My stats display clearly who has performed better.

We all know that Jenson Button has become the 09’ World Champion and Sebastian Vettel has won the DHL fastest lap award! There’s no doubt they deserve this recognition and I personally congratulate them for their teamwork. Job very well done guys !!!

However, if you consider qualifying times, Vettel wasn’t actually the fastest driver. I believe that a racer’s speed should be evaluated constantly in every race, not only where they shined. This is just like the championship where points are rewarded in every race.

As you can see by clicking on the spreadsheet, that Rubens Barrichello has performed better in qualifying than anyone else!

This is the second time he has done this! In 2003 he out-qualified none other than Michael Schumacher!

I'm not saying that Rubens deserves the Championship or the DHL Award more than Button or Vettel. You need more than speed for that.

However if I were you, I'd listen to a very wise man in F1...

Sir Frank Williams...

Button shows why he's the fastest one during every Grand Prix... Consistancy.

JDF1 Drivers points total.

I’ve added more detail to FIA’s points system to include the top 10 finishers. This practically includes ALL the drivers in the championship. For example Massa & Kovalainen tied at 22 points in 09’ and many tied with no points. My point system unties and classifies them in the final standings.
I’ve also respected FIA’s difference in each final position, for example, 1st = 10pts, which is worth the same as two Fourth places (5pts. + 5pts.)

I hope this has been understood and well received by most of you. Any constructive criticism that would help this site be more informative is welcomed. LET THE 2010 SESON BEGIN !!!

Qually drivers

Alonso may have gotten his first pole this season but it was Webber who clocked the best time again. Mr. Biatore, why don't you get YOUR driver back in place of Piquet?

JD F1 Qually teams.

As everyone can see, Red Bull is the fastest team in qualifying, while Ferrari and Williams are closing on Brawn. The eye catcher in Hungary was that only Red Bull managed to outpace McLaren!

Red Bull closing on Brawn for the top spot and... Guess who's not at the bottom anymore ?!?!?

They may not have a point yet, but I'm sure they'll come around.

Webber's got his first fast lap of the season and has closed on Button again, showing his consistancy during the championship. Rosberg gets two thumbs up for being the fastest of the rest.

Webber obtuvo su primera vuelta rapida del año y se acerca a Button demostrando su consistencia durante el campionato. Rosberg obtiene dos pulgares arriba por ser el mas rapido del resto.

Super Aguri SA09

This is a cleaner, more "2009 look" of the Super Aguri, enjoy.

TEAMMATES HEAD 2 HEAD!!! WHO'S FASTER?

Here's a table comparing the driver's, the way the F.I.A. presents them, as well as my "real time" difference. Some of the results are quite surprising!
Below there's a more explanitory outline for each team.
Any comments are welcomed.

Rosberg vs. Nakajima

I think from what we've seen during the year it's pretty obvios who's on top. Nico has beaten Kazuki 7 to 1 in qually as well as in faster laps. The German has managed to build a gap of 0.291 seconds which doesn't seem very impressive. On the other hand the spread is almost a second during the race, 0.923 second to be exact.

Trulli vs. Glock

Jarno Trulli, the MASTER qualifier proves it once again beating Timo 6-2 and summing up a difference of 0.214 seconds.
Racing for the Italian is different. They are tied at 4 faster laps each and Trulli's incident in China killed his average. He's is not really 0.839 seconds behind.

Sebastien vs Sebastien

Two interesting drivers! Buemi has it under control in qually for now, leading 6-2 with a slight advantage of 0.195 seconds.

Since they BOTH didn't register a lap time in Spain, Boudais is up 4-3 and jumped 0.441 seconds in front of the Swiss. Buemi had a 3 G.P. drout from Bahrein to Monaco, so he has a lot of catching up to do. We need to keep an eye on them...

Alonso vs. Piquet

Maybe it's time for Piquet to move on to a smaller team (or another category) where he's not compared to such a talented F1 Champion. Many fans know that Nelson needs time to adjust, but 2 years in F1 is about as much as you can get and I'm sure 3 time World Champion Daddy won't be able to do much more for him. Piquet hasn't managed to beat Alonso in qually yet and is trailing behind at an average of 0.790 seconds. I'm sure Biatore agrees that it's too much to stay in Renault.

Fernando Alonso has actually lapped slower in Turkey and Bahrein, making it 6-2! However his gap is unfortunately even larger, to almost a second! It's a shame to lose such an illustrious name. Let's hope he can turn it around in the coming races.

Vetel vs. Webber

If it hadn't been for Bahrein, Webber would much closer than most people think. Sure, Vettel is way ahead in qually 7-1, but the Wonder Kid has only gained 0.237 seconds.
Experience here counts. Mark may be behind 6 to 2, though he's managed a 0.197 second lead because of Sebastian crashing out early in Monaco and didn't register a decent lap time, and therefor hurt his average.

Kovalainen vs. Hamilton

This couple is tied with 4 a piece in qually, surprisingly it's Heikki who pushes ahead by 0.163 seconds! That's a bigger spread than half the grid! Lewis Hamilton has had problems in the season opener, Monaco and his home G.P. which has hurt his average quite a bit.
On the contrary, during the race Hamilton pulls a confortable gap of 0.317 seconds and leads 5-3 in fastest laps. It's fair to mention that Kovalainen did have incidents in the first two G.P.s and then a mechanical problem in Spain which helps Lewis' lead.

Fisichella vs. Sutil

An equal pair, Fisichella has a 5-3 lead in qually, but the time difference is barely in Sutil's favor by 0.086 seconds. A positive note for Adrian is that he's never been last on the grid so far.

When it comes to fast laps, Sutil ties it up 4-4 but it's Giancarlo who comes on top by 0.070 seconds. Once again, an eaqual pair.

Massa vs. Raikkonen

What a pair! On one hand Felipe is winning 5 to 3 in Qually, on the other hand, due to a problem in Malaysia, Kimi has gained 0.144 seconds on the Brazilian.
If Kimi Raikkonen didn't have a hydraulic falier in Spain, he would have been ahead by more than a mere 0.056 seconds and tied at 4 races each.

Barrichello vs. Button

Although Button leads 6 to 2, believe it or not, they are the most evenly match drivers in qualifying! Only 0.003 seconds difference in 8 races! Jenson makes the spread in Q3 where his style of driving usually works better with a heavier car.
When it comes to fastest laps, Button repeats the score and has pulled a gap of 0.349 seconds to Rubens.

Heidfeld vs. Kubica

In qually, Kubica has beaten Heidfeld 6 to 2 so far, as seen during the Grand Prix.
However Nick Heidfeld has outpaced his Polish teammate by an average of 0.026 seconds, probably due to Kubica's poor performance in China, which brought down his average. It's an insignificant difference, therefore Heidfeld is still on pace with Robert Kubica.
When fastest laps are compared Nick Heidfeld seems to be building a gap (5 to 3) of 0.321 seconds to Robert, who looks like he needs a bit more time to adapt.
